I WAS rather disappointed with the Buzzcocks gig review by Alex Rennie on October 16.
It was such a negative review – his main observations seemed to be with the sound.
I agree the mic level should have been higher on lead singer Pete Shelley’s microphone but I have certainly heard a lot worse sound in my time and, from where I was standing, I could hear well enough.
In my opinion, and many others’ I spoke to after the gig, it was a good night.
The band played well and did a mixed set of new songs and old ones.
I certainly did not witness a mass exodus for the bar, no more than any of the other 200-plus gigs I have attended.
The Buzzcocks do have a discordant sound (to say the least) so, if you want pitch-perfect sound, go and see an X-Factor, auto-tuned mime outfit.
We are lucky to have bands of the Buzzcocks’ calibre coming to Salisbury.
The band’s performance and sound certainly did not warrant such a churlish and negative review.
