HAVING made a special effort to attend the city council meeting to hear the presentation from the new chair of the Salisbury Vision, Alex Tregallis, I was most disappointed.
Mr Tregallis's ideas did not seem to be a vision for Salisbury at all – he barely mentioned Salisbury.
Instead, he appeared to be focussed on the needs of military industries around Porton and Boscombe Downs.
I was disappointed he did not mention the potential for new enterprises at the hospital, there was no mention of a university and he neither acknowledged nor addressed the well known problems of lack of openness and accountability with the Salisbury Vision (until pressed to do so by questioning from councillors).
Above all, I was disappointed city councillors voted to spend £4,300 on a strategy for economic development chiefly focussed on military enterprises, who already benefit from huge amounts of public subsidy.
