ON Saturday my 21-year-old daughter and I were looking around the Salisbury Antique Market.

On the top floor she saw a small, walnut veneer writing desk. We asked the shopkeeper to pull it out for us so that we could have a better look.

My daughter, an art history graduate, fell in love with the piece and asked that it be reserved until Monday, in order that we could talk to the seller and arrange delivery, this was agreed. As far as we were concerned we had a binding contract.

On Monday morning I rang the seller as agreed to be told that that morning it had been sold and taken away.

This has caused my daughter a huge amount of disappointment and upset.

If you bought this desk on Monday (with our name and number inside on a scrap of paper) that had been reserved by my daughter, please will you contact me in order that we can buy it from you for the price that you paid?

My number is 07775 520608.
