I HAVE serious concerns about Salisbury Vision.

Despite public money and officer resources being put into the board there seems to be no appetite for a meeting in public. Questions on accountability are largely ignored.

The new idea is economic regeneration but the focus is not on Salisbury but on Porton Down and Dstl, which is a company based there.

My alternative vision would be to improve the environment where we live, which would have the effect of attracting businesses to Salisbury.

Part of this approach would be to invest in good quality parks and open spaces, which will attract economic development to Salisbury. Another idea is to support local independent businesses and encourage local entrepreneurs.

We were also promised regular monthly updates from Stanhopes on the development of the central car park – a scheme proposed by Salisbury Vision.

Nine months have passed since an exhibition was held and no updates have been received.

Salisbury Vision must be more open – otherwise Wiltshire Council must consider whether they still wish to support them financially whilst having to make further damaging cuts to basic services next year.
