I am delighted to hear that the new Stonehenge Visitor Centre has been such an undoubted success in its first year (Journal, December 18). It jolly well needs to have been when one considers the very high price that has been paid over the last year, and continues to be paid, in time, money and inconvenience by hundreds of thousands of motorists and the residents of the surrounding villages. If one adds in the additional cost of the proposed tunnel, even the presence of the President of the United States hardly begins to justify the price being paid for allowing English Heritage to ride rough shod over the rest of the population.
