A FEW old school friends and myself are arranging a reunion in Salisbury some time later in the year.

My name is Peter Phelan, as a young boy I lived at number 4 (later changed to number 11) Norfolk Road, West Harnham.

In the 1950s I went to St Osmund’s school in Exeter Street.

When I was 14, I left to be part of a new venture at Salisbury Technical College, which was at that time located in an old factory just below Old Sarum.

I say new venture as it was a new course for 16 students interested in building trades.

We were taught in a newly erected portable wooden hut placed on an old car park.

I am now retired and living in France but have over the years found (via Friends Reunited and Facebook) some of my old class friends. On my trips back to the UK I always try and include a visit to Salisbury and before leaving home contact my friends so that we can get together for a somewhat long, leisurely lunch (usually in the New Inn) where we wind the clock back and talk about the good old days.

Unfortunately we are only about five in number but this year most, if not all, of our class will be celebrating their 70th birthday, so it would be nice if we could make contact with a many more as possible to arrange a get together maybe in November this year.

I attach a school photo that was taken in 1958 and the teacher was Mr Hibbs.

I am seated far left (as you look at the photo) and Francis is in the middle of the back row.
