Having seen all the aggro about the A303 upgrade plan, I have to add my comment.
It would meet the real brief simply to make the A303 a dual carriageway past Stonehenge: the tunnel is nothing more than a vanity project for one or more people in the local community and English Heritage.
A tunnel is a gross waste of money, at a time when there are far more worthwhile things to spend it on.
Wiltshire Council, English Heritage and John Glen should be ashamed to be championing such a cock-eyed scheme.
Nobody should seek to (or be allowed to) create an ego-boosting legacy at the public expense. Wiltshire Council should drop the tunnel and allow the money to be diverted to more honourable objectives, either in Wiltshire or elsewhere.
