I too was dismayed to read the situation with regard to Mr Gurdeep Shergill.
I fully support the prosecution of anybody who drives whilst under the influence of alcohol and we have laws in this country to deal with these offences.
Mr Shergill took full responsibility for his actions which occurred when he was not working and has been punished according to the law.
The tribunal decided the punishment meted out to Mr Shergill by the courts was insufficient.
There are very many people in Salisbury and surrounding areas who have been fortunate to have had Mr Shergill as their consultant and many more who will now have to wait for planned operations while Mr Shergill is suspended.
I would like to know exactly who is served by this suspension.
Not the patients or Mr Shergill’s colleagues.
It’s utter madness.
