I WAS very sad to hear that the Salisbury Journal has parted company with long-serving photographer Roger Elliott.

For all the time I have lived in Salisbury, Roger's photos have been bringing the news to life.

He has been a keen follower of the arts, particularly the live music scene, and I am sure that his support has nurtured many creative careers.

He was always very helpful and encouraging about my own photographic endeavours.

He covered so much local sport, and stuck with Salisbury City Football Club through their highs and lows.

A few years ago Salisbury Arts Festival included an exhibition of Roger's photos of 20 years of the festival, which was fascinating.

I hope that the Journal can run a feature with photos from Roger's archives, which I am sure would show a fantastic record of life in and around the city over the last 40 years.

Through your pages I would like to thank Roger for all his work and support, and wish him all the best for the future.
