I TOO can confirm the disgusting state of the verges of the A36 south of Salisbury. What a terrible sight for visitors coming to our city.

This buck passing has got to stop.

Councils take our money to provide us with the public services we need.

They are public servants and it is time they went back to providing the basic and essential services they are required to do.

After all, local authorities were originally set up to clear our streets of rubbish to rid us of pests and disease.

One good place to start is to stop charging for people disposing of waste.

It always adds to the fly tipping problems in the countryside, including endangering animal life and actually costs the council more to clear it up.

It was the EU who enforced landfill taxes because of problems in Denmark and Holland.

Our councils seem to have jumped on this bandwagon and are making life very difficult, expensive and unpleasant for us all.

LAST year I put my green bin out a total of ten times.

I only put it out when it is full.

Thus at £40 per year, this represents £4 a time to empty it.

Can anyone undercut Wiltshire Council and offer me a service at under £4 a time to take my green waste away?
