MUCH has been said and written recently about town and country littering.
The main source for this is undoubtedly the disposal of rubbish from passing vehicles.
Possible causes have been put forward such as lack of disposal outlets, overflowing bins and of course “the cuts”.
This is not the main issue.
Nowhere have I seen any reference to parental influence or the teaching of that basic social habit that if one eats or drinks in the car or in the open, one takes the rubbish home for disposal.
Once learned this habit becomes and remains second nature.
