During a stroll through Elizabeth Gardens I stumbled across what I thought to be either a yellow blue-head wagtail or unbelievably the notoriously difficult to spot northern oriole songbird.
As I approached-camera at the ready, the bird remained motionless and apparently unperturbed by my proximity.
Thrilled, I crept even closer only to discover my songbird was in fact a disregarded colourful plastic shopping bag which I surmised had been carried by the wind to lodge itself in the tree!
I’ve now booked an urgent appointment at the opticians and I strongly advise all those over sixty to do the same!
