I NOTICE that we are again being shafted by Wiltshire Council. This time they

are proposing to close the recycling centres for TWO days a week and reduce the

opening time to 10am to 5pm in summer and 4pm in winter.

What they are saying is that few people use the facility after 5pm.

Do they not realise that in closing for two days a week, the knock on effect that this will have is to make the

periods that they are open more busy and the queues will be even longer with

vehicles standing ticking over? What will that do to the air quality.?

They also say that the days closed will give the operators time to make sure that

the skips are all emptied before they start, but they will not be taking skips away that

are not full as this would be uneconomic. It was also stated that when Salisbury was

closed, Amesbury would be open and likewise in North Wilts between the tips at

Melksham and Chippenham.

Do they honestly think that someone living in the south of Salisbury will be dragging the waste all the way over to Amesbury? And in any case, what does that do for the carbon footprint? I can see that this will encourage people to ?y tip, and who will be footing the bill to get that cleaned up? Us.

What planet are these people on? All in the pursuit of money! There was a consultation regarding the green waste bins, but this seemed to be a foregone conclusion. We were going to have to pay, but hang on a minute, the green waste is composted and sold, so we have to pay for the privilege of allowing them to sell the compost.

Wiltshire Council, where you always pay more and more for less and less!

Notwithstanding the bin collections going from weekly to fortnightly.
