I WRITE with reference to my recent visit to Salisbury and how much I enjoyed the events going on around town in celebration of 800 years of Magna Carta.
I think Salisbury has done itself proud with the efforts it has put into this event, but I must say I was very disappointed walking along the New Canal when I noticed that the road and pavement around the taxi rank was just one big ashtray.
I observed taxi drivers just throwing cigarette butts onto the ground without any thought or care for this form of antisocial litter. Perhaps the council should provide them with one very big ashtray to alleviate this problem?
I don’t think that I pay my council tax for it to be used to clear up after such thoughtless behaviour.
