ANY parent would wish to see standards of their children’s education being maintained or improved. Ofsted inspections are intended to play their part in this. No doubt they often do.

However, on occasions prepare to be dismayed by how “off the mark” they can appear to be. We were shocked and rather angry at the most recent inspection report for Little Orchard Pre-School.

Imagine being dedicated to providing the highest standards of learning and social development for children and it being your passion – and then to be subject to damning remarks and implications in the public domain. This is what has happened to staff at the preschool in Middle Woodford.

Our daughter attends this preschool in spite of living several miles away, simply because we were in awe of discovering that such a rich and high quality learning and development environment for her existed.

My husband and I have formally complained to Ofsted for what we consider to be questionable details of criticism in its report. We offer our utmost thanks to the staff at the preschool for giving our daughter the very best start in her educational journey.

Let us hope that Ofsted reconsiders its assessment and, if it does, that this is as readily passed out into the public domain as its criticisms have been.
