I HAVE just been ‘home’ to Salisbury from my temporary home in Paderborn, Germany and I ran the 5th ‘edition’ of the all-new Salisbury Parkrun in Churchill Gardens.

It was an absolutely fantastic event and thoroughly enjoyable.

My congratulations to the organisers, marshals and photographer.

The great thing about Parkrun (which has taken the country by storm) is that you can turn up at your local park for free and run five kilometres – arguably a distance that everyone should be able to manage?

At the end of the run, you receive your results by email and, in the case of Salisbury, a fantastic series of photographs taken of the runners and shots of the stunning backdrop, the cathedral!

If you haven’t run Salisbury Parkrun yet, I would highly recommend it.

Nice way to start the weekend (at 9am) and have a ‘social’ before and after a super event with other participants and it really doesn’t matter what standard you are at all.

I look forward to running it more regularly when I’m home from Germany for good with my family.
