COMING home after six weeks away, my garden was up to its eyes with weeds and grass.
I almost caved in and signed up for my green bin to be collected at £40 per year.
Then I read about how much the council is getting over and above the estimate (Journal, July 9). They are taking the Mickey.
How about ‘freebies’ for pensioners? I am 85 and my husband is 93 years old. We claim nothing from the state, apart from our pensions. I still do my own gardening, etc, so what about a little help for us ‘golden oldies’?
I understand the dump will only be open five days a week; does it make you want to do a bit of fly-tipping on the council’s doorstep?
