I HAD an appointment to see my GP last Thursday morning at 9.10 at Broad Chalke surgery and he decided to refer me to a consultant at the Salisbury District Hospital.

At 9.40 I received a call from the hospital saying I had an appointment to see the consultant at 10.30. He subsequently gave me a prescription to take to the pharmacy and organised for me to see a phlebotomist, have an ECG and an ultrasound scan at the end of which I collected the medication from pharmacy.

I was booked in for a MRI scan on Friday morning at 10.

I did not have to wait at any appointment for longer than five minutes and everything happened with reassuring seamless efficiency. I wasn’t even asked how I voted in May to determine whether or not I warranted any treatment.

In these litigious days when everyone regards themselves as an expert because of all the information at the end of our finger tips through the numerous internet search engines we often read of criticism as a result of a person, group or organisation not realising expectations.

In this instance, the medical profession far exceeded my expectations and the service I received was second to none.
