I AM very pleased to see that most of the candidates for the forthcoming Wiltshire Council by-election recognise the value of tourism to Salisbury’s economy. A recent report showed that visitor numbers and “visitor spend” increased in Wiltshire for the third year in a row. Salisbury needs to capitalise on this increasing market and continue to be visitorfriendly.
I was even more pleased to read that retention of the Millstream coach park figures in two of the short “manifestos” which the Journal published. I hope the successful candidate will persuade Wiltshire and Salisbury City Councils, and the developers of The Maltings, that keeping and improving the coach park on its present site is to the benefit all parties.
