FIRSTLY I thank you all for our weekly Journal, an enjoyable weekly paper for all your readers.

At the time The Beatles filmed Help! I was living at our farm which bordered the plain, on the Shrewton-Larkhill road, culminating at The Bustard, a remote pub. Remember the scene in Help! where they drove a tank through a straw stack? The stack was built with bales from our farm. It was constructed with strong walls, a single bale wall at each end, hollow in the centre.

Of course, we went up to watch them filming that scene, shot, luckily in one take. So many times I’ve kicked myself for not getting their autographs.

My surname at the time was Wort, I was in my mid twenties.

I thank the contributor, Alex Rennie for his excellent article, the photos are great and text terrific.
