I AM pleased that you are starting a campaign to support Salisbury District Hospital and pleased also that you have given prominence to the catering side of the hospital as this is one of the few hospitals – as your article says – that cooks all meals on site.

The hospital has a very active food forum committee comprising of governors and community representatives like myself and we take part in unannounced ward food tastings, making sure that protected mealtimes are observed and making sure assisted feeding takes place where it is necessary.

Ian Robinson mentioned the new modern equipped kitchen that was done a short while ago and I would like to pay tribute to the kitchen staff who had to work in portacabins while the new kitchen was being installed, yet despite working in very difficult conditions they managed to get the meals out on time!

There is no doubt catering is one of the flagships of the Salisbury District hospitals with very few complaints but plenty of compliments.
