In reply to the letter from Jo Hollywood (Journal, April 5), I completely disagree with what she said regarding the accommodation provided for the police brought in to help.

I am sure Jane Scott didn't make the bookings herself but it did make more sense having everyone in the same place for a number of reasons.

Firstly, from a budget point of view, the Premier Inn is value for money (taxpayers' money) compared to what local B&Bs cost.

And they offer lunch and dinner etc which not all B&Bs offer.

With these men and woman covering shifts across a 24-hour period they need access to food across the whole period.

Secondly, when they are not on duty they can socialise with others rather than being dotted around the city on their own.

I would also imagine the Premier Inn employ all local people rather than the tiny amount mentioned in the letter.

The £1million to help the city recover is mainly to help the businesses directly affected, ie Zizzi, The Mill and the shops that are closed around the cordons, and to get footfall up with the free parking etc.
