Wile I agree with Alec Toyton's view that Britain is morally obliged to provide a home here for Russian exiles who put their lives on the line working for our country (Journal, March 29), the UK government also has a duty to make sure that these exiles are settled where they and the wider public are not placed in unnecessary danger.

A busy and densely populated city like Salisbury would not seem to be the most sensible location.

If we are to provide a safe haven for future spies from Russia, surely it would be wise to ensure that they are domiciled in remote parts of the country where the authorities can provide them with more effective protection from poison attacks.

This would also reduce the chances of large numbers of people being exposed to collateral risk.
