I WAS surprised last week to see Martin Hudson and Andrew Crick accused me of being silent on the information centre.

I have received a significant number of emails from constituents which I have replied to setting out my views.

I share everyone’s scepticism about moving the information centre, lock, stock and barrel to the Maltings.

However, that was never the planned intention – there was always going to be some sort of tourist information function retained at the front of the Guildhall.

The City Council now needs to spell out much more clearly how this will look and how this fits in with other uses of the building.
