I COULD not agree more with the two correspondents in last week’s Journal with regards to health staff doing their best.
With the financial savings that all parts of the health service are being expected to make, the pressure on staff will become even more intense.
However, when incidents happen that bring the service in question then investigations have to take place and hopefully recommendations can be made leading to an improvement of the service.
The Wiltshire Involvement Network is the only statutory organisation set up by act of parliament to represent patients and public and we would be failing in our duty if we did not take complaints seriously and to try to get an improvement in the service if possible.
The new health and social care bill currently going through parliament will, if passed, be very challenging for patients, public and all those who work in the health and social care service.
We are very fortunate to have dedicated staff here in Wiltshire and especially at Salisbury District Hospital and I believe the hospital gets far more letters of praise than they do complaints.
