5:05pm Thursday 2nd February 2012 in Salisbury Letters
I WAS surprised to read another letter from Colin Duller (Postbag, January 26).
The photo he provided depicts the footpath from Netherhampton Road to Old Meadows Walk; a popular cut through to the Town Path and the trees have been there for many years.
This pathway is now, unfortunately, outside the Harnham boundary and comes within the city ward for Wiltshire Council and is no different to many other lit footpaths with trees, but I will alert the councillor for this part about the lighting along here.
Mr Duller omits to say that he has already had a written reply from Wiltshire Council, dated May 23 last year, when he complained about overhanging trees from a Norfolk Road garden and various other properties in Harnham.
He raised exactly the same issue at a meeting of Harnham Neighbourhood Association (HNA) last year, also showing the reply he’d had from Wiltshire Council, which is in the minutes.
No wheelchair user has contacted me about rain “dripping down their neck” at this bus stop, nor has anyone contacted me about any other overhanging bushes in Harnham.
As a councillor, I try my best to help Harnham people, for example with the many housing issues they now face, including eviction and homelessness.
Perhaps Mr Duller will join me in campaigning to get Essex Square and Norfolk Road resurfaced.
The road surfaces here are a disgrace; or perhaps he’ll join me in trying to get funding for the much-needed cycle path from East to West Harnham for school children to travel safely to our schools; or perhaps join me in trying to get our estate roads gritted in adverse weather; or does he expect me to wander around the streets of Harnham with a chainsaw?
Residents, beware of your overhanging tree – Mr Duller is about!

Well that's not true he probably talks about doing things but nothing eventually transpires.
Anyway Salisbury councillors are surplus to requirements now we are under the auspicious care of Wiltshire council. That should ensure anything urgent takes about 10 years to eventually take place!
