The official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III for public buildings has been unveiled by New Forest District Council.

At the annual council meeting on Monday, May 13 at Appletree Court in Lyndhurst, outgoing chair Councillor Neville Penman said: “My final official duty as chairman is to draw your attention to the portrait of his Majesty the King now on display here in the chamber.”

The portrait was provided by the Cabinet Office and is the official image for public buildings.

Taken at Windsor Castle last year by Hugo Burnand, the photograph shows His Majesty wearing a Royal Navy uniform of an Admiral of the Fleet and official medals and decorations.

The portrait of Queen Elizabeth II now hangs in the chairman’s office.
