Rodney Lennox-Gordon was an outstanding human being and a huge inspiration to me as a painfully shy teenager. We went to school together (Poole Grammar sixth form - I was an 'outsider'), and I shared my first (almost legal) pint of beer with him. Funny, witty and Falstaffian, Rod had both personality and compassion beyond his years. We used to frequent the back bar of The Crown, off Poole High Street (the 'Half a Crown'). Rod acted as a 17-year-old 'host' whilst we sixth-formers scratched together loose change to buy pints of cheap mild, peanuts and fags - fuel for our conversations about Thatcher and the Miners' Strike. We lost touch when he went away to University. Bar onechance meeting in a pub, I hadn't seen him for over 30 years. He did so much for us all by talking, thinking and being convivial. Sleep well, you shining star.

Dearest Rod , a true friend and gentleman who will be greatly missed by many.
will miss our coffee catch ups and putting the world to rights. Can see you with a good book in one hand and a good ale in the other. Goodnight my friend. Liz

So sad to hear if Rod’s untimely passing. A wonderful and dedicated Nurse that I was lucky enough to have worked alongside. Fly high.

Oh Roddo!
I’m so sorry you have been taken from the world so early! I haven’t seen you for years but you have always been in my heart!
Nurse training, our trip to Amsterdam, UCH strike, your veggie sausage casserole and dancing to the oyster band! I hope you have found a place with a rather splendid ale and a decent duke box! Save me a seat ****
