M3 MOTORWAY
(JUNCTIONS 7 - 6 NEAR BASINGSTOKE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the M3 Motorway in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is:-
1) to authorise the total weekend closure of the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between the exit and entry slips at Junction 6 (Black Dam Spur);

2) to impose a 24-hour 50 mph speed restriction on:-

a) the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between a point 250 metres south­west of the centreline of Woods Lane underbridge and a point 220 metres west of the centreline of Huish Lane overbridge; and

b) the coast-bound carriageway of the M3 between a point 320 metres east of the centreline of Greywell Road overbridge and a point 65 metres east of the centreline of Hackwood Road (A339) underbridge; and

3) to permit hard shoulder running adjacent to:-

a) the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between a point 580 metres south-west of the centreline of Hackwood Road underbridge and a point 380 metres south-west of the centreline of Junction 6 western underbridge; and

b) the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between a point 480 metres east of the centreline of Junction 6 eastern underbridge and a point 260 metres east of the centreline of Huish Lane overbridge.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake drainage improvement works and all associated works. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 4 days starting on or after Friday 22nd January 2021. The closure is expected to take place between Friday 21:00 and Monday 06:00.
The Order will come into force on 20th January 2021 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closure will be directed to leave the carriageway and re-join after the junction. The temporary closure, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
