THE BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) (A340 RINGWAY WEST ) ORDER 2016

Notice is hereby given that Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972 with Hampshire County Council in exercise of the powers of the said County Council and in exercise of the powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"), and of all other enabling powers, has made the following Order:-

Reason for Order: The Council are satisfied that traffic on the road should be restricted or prohibited because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road.

Effect of Order: All traffic will be prohibited from travelling along A340 Ringway West , Length of A340 to be affected is between Thornycroft Roundabout and Winchester Road Roundabout. Length of Westbound B3400 is between A340 on and off slips., as directed by traffic signs. The closure is for the Replacement of damaged parapet.

Duration of Order: The order will come into effect on 03 January 2017 for 3 months. (Notwithstanding the above it is expected the closure will be for 2 nights)

Alternative Route: Diversion route for the B3400 closure is southbound on the A340, round Winchester road roundabout, north on A340 and off slip onto B3400. For vehicles wanting to travel south on the A340 from Thorneycroft Roundabout The diversion is North on the A340, Turn east on the A339 Ringway north, Turn west at Blackdam roundabout onto the A30 Ringway south and continue until the A340.
