'Notorious past resident' to be subject of talk at museum

Augustus John, one of Fordingbridge’s most notorious past residents will be the subject of a talk organised by Fordingbridge Museum on Friday 26th April. His unconventional and bohemian lifestyle  dismayed some locals when he lived in Fordingbridge from 1927 to 1961. The talk, entitled “Brilliant Destiny”, looks at John’s early life up until 1914.

Care home residents present cheque to River Bourne Community Farm

Residents from Milford House Care Home in Salisbury were delighted to welcome Sara-Jane Hancock, Education & Marketing Manager from River Bourne Community Farm in Laverstock to hand over a cheque for £258 to this fantastic local charity and resource.  The residents made the farm their chosen charity for 2023 and have carried this forward into 2024 as they enjoy going to the farm so much.

Halfway House Harriers FC have been crowned Salisbury and District Football league Champion for the 2023 – 2024 season, successfully defending their title from the previous season.  Having secured the league title with a game in hand, Halfway finished the season with a flourish in their final fixture with an emphatic 4-0 victory against league new entrants Gazz FC 1st. 

Look but don't touch New Forest Ponies - or you could be fined

The public are being asked not to feed or touch the New Forest’s free roaming ponies and donkeys when they visit the area. Doing so was made a fineable offence last year, in the wake of a series of injuries to the public and several animals dying after being fed human food.
