SALLY Wilcox, who has played a leading role in some of the UK's most high profile IT projects, has become BT's south west regional director.
Ms Wilcox (47), who has worked for BT for 31 years, has held a range of posts, including an 18-month secondment to the Department for Work and Pensions.
In July, she was appointed director for BT Central Government, a post she will continue to hold as south west regional director.
She said: "The rapid development of communications technology is already having a hugely beneficial impact on the south west, bringing prosperity while helping to safeguard our precious environment.
"For example, the roll-out of high-speed broadband, now almost universally available across the region, is allowing people to work in remote locations in a way which was inconceivable just a few years ago.
"During the next five years, BT will invest £740 million in the south west on its 21 Century Network, which will open the door to a range of new products and services."
