STAFF at Salisbury furnishing store Sturtons & Tappers joined their colleagues from Dorset at a celebratory dinner last month to mark the centenary of the company.
Founded as Sturtons Furnishing Stores by Sydney J Sturton, Sturtons & Tappers has expanded to three stores - Salisbury, Wimborne and Winton in Bournemouth.
Managing director David Scott paid tribute to the loyalty and dedication of the company's 60-strong workforce and his wife and fellow director, Pauline.
He also praised Associated Independent Stores, the UK retail buying group, which, he said, had allowed the company to keep prices competitive and "concentrate on the personal service for which Sturtons & Tappers is renowned".
He added that the group, which has seen a 30 per cent increase in sales during the last two years, was looking forward to the next 100 years.
