FOUR aeronautical apprentices from QinetiQ at Boscombe Down have taken part in a selection tournament for a national competition.
The WorldSkills UK selection tournament, which was held at Boscombe Down, is one of 77 different trade skills competitions that take place each year.
Six of the best candidates go through to the WorldSkills UK finals, held in November.
The competition tasks included a number of skills such as changing a rotary blade on an aircraft, metalwork dexterity, electrical wiring skills and finding and fixing faults on aeronautical avionic equipment.
The event aims to encourage young people and adults in training, while raising participation, esteem and standards in apprenticeships and vocational training.
