AN AMESBURY-BASED IT support company has been acquired in a bid to expand offerings to schools throughout the South.

Techs4Education has been taken over by Excalibur Communications, based in Swindon, to grow its presence in the education sector.

It is hoped by bringing Techs4Education into the Excalibur family, it will be able to bring experience and expertise to its existing education division.

Chief executive Steve Worthington said: “The team at Techs4Education has over eight years of experience in delivering IT support and services to schools, and we are proud of what we have achieved to date.

“In Excalibur we have found a partner who shares our vision for technology in schools and can facilitate taking our offering to the next level. Our knowledge of the sector, combined with the depth of resources available from Excalibur will enable us to broaden the IT and telecommunications solutions we provide to schools.”

As part of the acquisition, Excalibur will re-brand its existing education practice using its new partner’s name and the enlarged department will now serve more than 30 schools in the South and South West.

Excalibur chief executive Peter Boucher said: “The addition of Techs4Education complements our existing education practice and grows our presence in a sector which is important to the business.

“Techs4Education has a strong reputation for making sure its schools have reliable and effective IT solutions and, like Excalibur, believes in delivering only the highest levels of service. IT and communications is complicated for any organisation and particularly for schools.

“By joining forces with Techs4Education we can reach more schools and support them in harnessing the latest technology for effective classroom learning.”

The acquisition of Techs4Education is Excalibur’s fifth IT acquisition in the past seven years to support its move from a mobile business to fully-managed tech partner for small and medium sized organisations.
