A new zero waste shop is opening in the city centre.

Blueberry Den plans to open its first zero waste shop on August 16 on Winchester Street.

It has for two years operated as pop-up refill stations and online, delivering to addresses in and around Salisbury.

It sells sustainable cleaning products and toiletries, without using plastic or creating any waste.

Owner and founder Celeste Skinner, 36, set up her first pop-up refill station in 36 Salisbury on the High Street, followed by Phoenix Emporium, Wilton, and Stable & Wick in Downton.

She is opening the shop to reduce her own carbon footprint in making so many deliveries.

The shop, on the corner where Winchester Street meets Pennyfarthing Street, will stock cupboard essentials without plastic, including locally-sourced food and drinks, as well as toiletries.

Originally from Chile, Celeste has lived in Salisbury for the last 11 years.

She said: "I set up Blueberry Den with just the van at the beginning. Before that, I worked in plant conservation.

"I have always tried to live more sustainably, and at the time, two years ago, it was really hard to find what you were looking for.

"It was a very niche market. I wanted to set up Blueberry Den for more people, to make sustainability more convenient and affordable.

"I wanted it to be convenient, so I set up the home delivery service, so people can shop online.

"What I do the most is focus on the local element to reduce our carbon footprint. I'd love to highlight the importance of shopping locally."

Blueberry Den offers oat milk from Rushmere Farm in Hampshire, and their main food supplier is Wilton Wholefoods in Downton.
