The bubble tea shop that was due to open in Salisbury today has delayed its opening.

CUPP Bubble Tea, which has sites in many cities in the country, will now open its Salisbury branch next Friday (October 22).

A spokesperson for the company said the hold-up is due to building delays.

The shop will open in the empty premises of 63 Silver Street, opposite Caffè Nero and on the corner with High Street.

It will now open its doors on Friday, October 22, at 2pm.

The shop's first 100 customers will receive a free bubble tea, and all customers after that will get 50 per cent off.

Founder of CUPP, Lee Peacock, said: “We can’t wait to open our new store in the beautiful city of Salisbury. The feedback on our social media about the news has been brilliant.

"We’ve seen an incredible response to the opening of our new stores across the country, with customers queuing around the block for a taste of our bubble teas.

"We are excited to be opening in Salisbury which will introduce bubble tea to new and existing customers."

Bubble tea is a drink from Taiwan made from milk, fruit and fruit juices and added 'bubbles', chewy tapioca pearls that sit at the bottom.

The drink become increasingly popular across the world, known as the 'drink that you chew'.

CUPP Bubble Tea's website boasts "the freshest and healthiest kind of bubble tea", made with loose leaf tea, fresh fruit, organic milk, and brown sugar.

Flavours on the menu include vanilla, coconut, mango, peach, strawberry, coffee, and matcha.

Lee launched the company in Bristol in 2012 after returning from living in Taiwan for three years.

There are CUPP sites currently in Bristol, Cardiff, Slough, and London, with new sites opening this year in Leeds, Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester, and other London locations.
