Another city centre independent has now closed its doors.

The watch shop Times Square, in Old George Mall, has now closed for business.

A notice on its door reads: "We are sorry to announce that Times Square has closed to trade with effect from March 26.

"We are grateful to you for all your business and support over the years."

In one of its Google reviews, a customer said that the shop, which also repaired watches, offered "a warm welcome and friendly service", and was "the cheapest in the city".

The Old George Mall shopping centre, which owns the site, has confirmed that its lease with Times Square had ended, and the centre will be looking for a new occupant for the site.

The Journal has contacted the owner for comment.
