Starbucks on Southampton Road has closed, but there are plans for a new Costa in the retail park.

The Starbucks branch in the Dolphin Retail Park, an internal fit out in Next, closed its doors on Sunday (April 10).

It was the city's last Starbucks. The coffee shop on Silver Street permanently closed in May 2020, after shutting in March due to the national lockdown.

A spokesperson for the company said: "We can confirm that our store at Dolphin Retail Park, Salisbury, closed in April 2022. We would like to thank our customers for their loyalty over the years and let them know they can still enjoy the Starbucks Experience at other Starbucks stores nearby.

"We will be in touch when we have more updates to share about plans in Salisbury.”

However, Costa has announced that it will be opening a new store in the old Starbucks unit.

The new coffee shop is due to open in late May, and will announce more information soon.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to confirm that a new Costa Coffee store will open on the Dolphin Retail Estate, Southampton Road in Salisbury in late May 2022.

"We look forward to opening our new store and hope the space provides members of the local community with a place to take some time out of their busy day to sit back, relax with their favourite Costa coffee while meeting up with friends and family members.

"We look forward to sharing further information on this new store in due course.”
