Bensons for Beds and Carpet Barn are opening in a new store in Salisbury today (Monday May 9).

The retailers are moving into Unit 3 at Bourne Retail Park, which was previously a Countrywide store as well as being used as a Covid vaccination centre.

Carpet Barn will occupy the ground floor of the new store while the bed and mattress retailer will be on the first floor.

To mark the occasion, Bensons will be rolling out its purple carpet to welcome visitors who will be offered an additional 10 per cent off items.

It is also one of the first Bensons stores to open with a new fascia and internal signage since the business underwent a rebranding last month.

Bensons’ managing director for retail, Alan Williams, said: “We’re looking forward to opening our new Salisbury store where we can show the best of what Bensons for Beds has to offer to people in the city and the surrounding region.

“Customers really like our new concept stores where they can see our full ranges and get all the help they need to make the right choice of bed and mattress so they can get the best night’s sleep possible.”

The store is run by manager Zaniz Charles who has been with the company for four years at the Andover store.

The opening marks a return to Salisbury for Bensons which closed its store in Southampton Road Retail Park 2021.

The refit, the retailer says, is the latest investment by Bensons under its transformation plan and follows the opening of eight stores in December and seven so far this year.

The Salisbury store will be Carpet Barns first outlet outside Dorset and Hampshire.

It currently has four outlets in Ferndown, Poole, Christchurch, and Eastleigh.

For the first time, it is partnering with Bensons for Beds.

Darren Ironside, the director of Carpet Barn said: "We’ve been looking for new locations the expand the group for sometime, and the opportunity to work alongside a major National brand will help build our credibility and deliver footfall growth considerably."

"As a Karndean Platinum retailer we have a fantastic area to discover the inspirational story behind each design and view example room photography and products. We can help you test out different layout options, design strips and complementary borders to create a personalised floor design’, adds Darren.

"At the end of the day, it’s all about giving a top quality service, and delivering value for money for the people of Salisbury and Wiltshire."
