WILDING has announced it will close later this month.

The wine bar and restaurant opened just 15 months ago but will cease trading from Sunday, November 20 due to rising costs.

The business blames "current market conditions and increased costs on food, utilities, and labour" for the closure, stating these factors have made it "impossible to continue".

Wilding, which replaced Cafe Rouge on Salisbury High Street, sourced from small artisan producers and made food from scratch where possible.

Its time spent in Salisbury has been described as "brief but beautiful".

It said: "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the news of our closure.

"The current market conditions and increased costs on food, utilities and labour have made it impossible for us to continue.

"We are deeply sorry if this has scuppered any of your plans for Xmas bookings."

Customers have expressed their sadness upon hearing the news, with one Facebook user commenting on the announcement: "Oh that is sad news, so sorry to see you go. We loved having cocktails and nibbles with you when our son was a newborn!"

Another said: "We've only just discovered you too what a shame."

Customers who have booked for Christmas will be offered a chance to re-book or cancel their table.

A spokesperson for Wilding gave huge thanks to head chef Jason, adding: "We feel so much gratitude to all of the talented people in our kitchen and front of house - thank you."

It will still have its restaurants in Frome and Oxford.
