THEformer site of the Polish delicatessen, Taste the World, has been taken over by new tenants.

Constantine Alupoaie, 40, said he hopes to have the shop open as soon as possible, offering grocery items from around the world, including Romania, Poland, Turkey and Bulgaria.

Constantine said he often frequented the shop as a customer during its previous life, having lived in Salisbury for seven years.

He decided to take over the shop in December, and preparations have now started for its opening.

He said there is a lot of work to be done.

Constantine and his wife, Alina, are setting the business up by themselves. Decorations, repairs and cleaning are taking place, and Constantine hopes everything can be ready in a month.

Constantine said he has wanted to start his own business for many years, and the shop will be his first.

He worked as a chef for 10 years, including as head chef at the previous Byron Burger in Salisbury until 2019, and wants his next business to be a burger van, so he can begin cooking again.

Constantine said: “I will do, in the future, a proper burger van.”
