Food from Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey are just some of the things you can find at Salisbury’s newest international food shop.

Constantin “Haky” Alupoaie and his wife Alina have opened Haky’s Market on Fisherton Street after three months of preparations.

Haky said he wants to do his best to have something for everyone, and carry the products that can’t be found anywhere else in Salisbury.

The store offers everything from Chupa Chups lollipop-flavoured fizzy drink to Gusto-brand corn puffs (the most popular Romanian snack food), fresh Romanian produce, and vintage-style Romanian Pepsi in a glass bottle.

He added that many of the products are well-known by Romanians, Bulgarians, Hungarians, and he wants people from Salisbury to discover new products they like.

Haky said: "I think it’s good for Salisbury and for people to know these things from outside."

The shop also features homemade Romanian pastries from Romania and halal meat.

Haky said: "I have many friends from Turkey and they said they wanted halal. I try to make everyone happy."

With the opening of Haky’s Market, people in Salisbury have products from around the world closer to home.

Haky said: “I am very happy because people are coming and they are happy because finally, we have a proper shop in Salisbury and we don’t need to travel to Southampton or something. We have it here locally.”

Haky’s Market is located at 92 Fisherton Street and is open from 8am to 7pm Monday through Saturday and 9am to 3pm on Sundays.
