YOYO Cocktail Bar on Milford Street has announced its closure after more than 10 years of business.

The news was posted on the bar’s Facebook page on Wednesday, June 21. Bar owners Kevin and Kim Welch said they were regretful to close the establishment.

They said: “This has not been an easy decision and it is with a truly heavy heart that we must announce today that YOYO Cocktail Bar will be closed for the foreseeable future.

“Since opening in March 2010, we have had some amazing times and we are truly thankful for its success. But after 13 years the time has come to say goodbye.

“After the pandemic, we came back chomping at the bit, but the increased running costs of YOYO now far outweigh the amount that customers are spending. Everyone is finding it tough financially and going out for drinks and meals, etc. are more of a luxury these days.”

The couple specifically thanked their son Jamie Welch for his “ideas, vision, commitment, and all his hard work.”

Kevin and Kim also thanked their loyal customers through the years.

They said: “A thank you to our loyal customers and the many incredible staff we have worked with over the past 13 years.

"Without you our dream would not have become a reality, but sadly now the dream is now over.”

Many former employees expressed their gratitude in the comments section of the announcement on Facebook for the years working at the bar.

Former bartender Jessica Stephens said: “Sad to hear this, guys. I had a great 2-3 years working behind the bar in Salisbury. Definitely got me through uni.”

Former employee Liam Rossi said: “I had an amazing time working there. When I did, I met loads of new people and to be honest I enjoyed my time. I will definitely 100 per cent miss the place and have good memories with the people I worked with. Thanks to Kevin and Kim for the opportunity I had and I will not forget it.”
