The Salisbury Arms will be returning to the city’s pub scene as a revamped cocktail bar.

It has been taken over by the team that run the Horse & Groom on Wilton Road.

Rosie Hansen, manager of The Horse & Groom, said multiple different angles of service have been tried at the pub without success, prompting her and Charles to consider something unique.

She said: “The main vibe is to kind of create a cocktail bar, because at the moment in Salisbury, we’ve got a few but they’re all opening quite late, so we’re going to be open pretty much all day. That way you can come for bottomless brunch, you can come for cocktails, you can come for a pint if you want a pint, and our aim is to create a nice atmosphere- somewhere for everyone to go rather than just certain age groups. We just want somewhere for everyone, really.”

Rosie said Charles and herself had been searching for a space to create a unique daytime “funky” cocktail bar.

Rosie said: “Both myself and [Charles] have been looking for quite a while for a funky bar so we could create this idea, because we knew that Salisbury needed one. So we’ve worked together on it for quite a while, and already had the idea on paper. It was just trying to find the right premises that we thought would suit it. The Salisbury Arms jumped up and soon as we saw it we knew that, actually, this could work here.”

The opening night of the new Salisbury Arms is planned for Friday, July 7 from 6pm to 2am.
