HUNDREDS of people queued patiently outside of the new Primark store in the Old George Mall before the official opening took place at 10am.
Braving the autumn chill wind, people congregated in the carefully allocated queuing area eager to get their first real glimpse of the products on display.
Inside the shop, the last preparations for the official launch were taking place with a podium set up for the opening speech, music played and employees performed co-ordinated dances as those invited to the official opening ceremony watched.

In the growing queue, shopping bags were handed out so that the shopping experience could begin.
Deputy mayor, councillor Sven Hocking said: "It was a privilege to attend the opening of Primark in the Old George Mall this morning, and in all honesty, I've never quite seen anything like it, truly amazing!"
Store manager Christopher Carter and sales director for the south west and north east, Conor Walsh took to the podium giving thanks to all of the staff who had worked hard and then, the doors were finally opened with employees lining up to welcome them.
Cllr Hocking added: "Against the backdrop of a difficult economic period and the relentless rise in internet shopping, a multimillion pound retail investment is fantastic news and I thank Primark for their commitment and confidence they have shown in coming to Salisbury.
"Finally the city has it's Primark, and I wish them, and all their staff, every success for the future."
