AN EIGHT-bedroom hotel purchased by a consortium in 2021 has now found the right long-term tenant who intends to increase the menu and add music nights for entertainment.

The Old Railway Hotel nestled in the village of Porton will be run by the new tenant Mohamed Aktaruzzaman who is an experienced multiple operator owning other businesses including restaurants in London and Horsham.

A spokesperson for the consortium said: “We are pleased that The Old Railway Hotel has a new long-term tenant which will keep the hotel, restaurant, and public house alive and thriving for decades to come.

"Mohammad Aktaruzzaman and the existing team have lots of experience and fantastic ideas for The Old Railway Hotel and we have achieved what we set out to do two and a half years ago which was to save the local community venue, become a local employer and keep it going long-term.”

Mohammed Aktaruzzaman said: "I really liked the place. I want to improve the menu and add variety and add some Indian dishes.

"The plan is to have some music nights. The first one is on Thursday, October 26 when we have an Elvis night and food. I think it will be good for the village."

Christie & Co managed the process.

Regional director, Richard Wood, said: “I am delighted to have completed the successful letting of The Old Railway Hotel in Porton to experienced multiple operators, who will no doubt continue the business’s recent success.

“This letting illustrates the continued demand we are seeing in 2023 for free of tie leasehold license businesses throughout the South.”
