TWO of Salisbury's food establishments received poor food hygiene ratings according to information published on the Food Standards Agency.

Food hygiene ratings provide scores based on performance in three categories - hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and buildings, and management of food safety.

The ratings go from zero to five.

The restaurant was listed as generally satisfactory on preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage, along with staff knowing about food safety and food sold or served being safe to eat.

The restaurant was rated as 'improvement necessary' for the cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building. This included hand-washing, pest control, having the appropriate layout and ventilation.

Wildwood was contacted for a response.

YO To Go

YO to Go, a takeaway at Tesco Extra on Bourne Way was given a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating when it was inspected on Friday, December 8.

Hygienic food handling including the preparation, cooking, re-heating and storage was generally satisfactory. The cleanliness and condition of facilities and building including layout, ventilation, hand-washing, and pest-control was very good.

Major improvement was needed for a system or checks to be in place to ensure food sold or served was safe to eat and that staff know about food safety.

Headland's Will Smith representing YO to Go said: “This rating does not reflect the highest standards to which YO! operates and demands across its outlets.

"The issue identified at this site was immediately addressed and has been rectified.”
