A sweet shop near Salisbury Cathedral has closed for good.

On Tuesday, June 4, a notice was placed on the door of Hardys Original Sweet Shop saying the store on High Street is 'permanently closed'.

Although the huge decorative sweet tubs and lollies remain in the window, the shelves inside are completely bare.

It is not known why the shop has closed.

A planning application was submitted to Wiltshire Council in October 2023 to turn part of the ground floor into a studio flat, with retail space remaining at the front. A decision was due on May 25.

The owners of the franchise have been contacted for comment.
