Meet the beautician offering expert facials and a 'cosy' atmosphere in her new city centre salon.

Megan Evans, of Buttercup Beauty, has recently opened her businesses in her beautiful new treatment room above the Hair Extension Cave.

Megan offers a huge range of range of beauty and aesthetic treatments but specialises in facials. I was delighted to be treated to my first ever facial which was completed entirely using Nimue Skin Technology products.

The facial begins with an initial cleanse to clean the skin from oils, before a second cleanse which works to hydrate the skin and ‘does the most amount of cleaning’, Megan told me.

The mask has a pineapple scent and a very gentle exfoliation - it didn’t feel rough against my skin. Megan described it as ‘little pacmen eating away at dead skin cells’.

This is followed by the super hydrating skin mask with a hand and arm message while it works its magic. Megan finished with a gua sha facial massage to lift and tighten the skin. This felt cold and refreshing, calming my skin after a thorough cleansing.

Megan said: “I enjoy doing facials because I love to do anything skin based. Skin health and skin benefits is right up my alley. I love the fact you can make people feel more confident in themselves, especially with acne clients, they really struggle with their self esteem.

"Sometimes you hear really awful stories like how they’ve been picked on, so changing them to what they are now is just incredible. The results you see are amazing."

She even had a mother of a teenage boy compliment her on how her work had changed him

Megan added: “She said, you made my son feel absolutely amazing, he’s got so much confidence, he’s now got a girlfriend.

"It was just so lovely to hear and for a young lad to need a bit of a boost and self esteem is what I’m here for. That’s why I joined beauty, you want to make people feel good.”

Megan has eight years of experience in the beauty industry and takes pride in making clients feel at ease.

She said: "It's a nice welcoming atmosphere. We’re nice and cosy in here, I just want people to feel at home and relaxed - as if they're having a facial at home type of feel. Just to feel confident that they can open up to me.”
